1. Main components
1. Valve body
● Usually made of cast iron, cast steel, stainless steel and other materials, connected to the pipeline, with a cylindrical channel inside.
2. Disc flap (valve disc)
● Disk-shaped design, which realizes turning the medium on and off by rotation. The material can be selected according to the characteristics of the medium (e.g., stainless steel, rubber lining, fluorinated lining, etc.).
3. Valve stem
● Connects the disc flap and actuator to transmit torque, usually made of stainless steel.
4. Pneumatic actuator
● Converts compressed air energy into mechanical rotational motion, is classified into single-sided (spring return) and double-sided types.
5. Accessories
● Optional positioners, solenoid valves, limit switches, etc., can be used to receive remote control or feedback signals.
2. Principle of operation
● Opening process: compressed air enters the pneumatic actuator, pushes the piston or gear mechanism, rotates the valve stem and damper by 90°, makes the damper parallel to the pipeline, and the medium flows.
● Closing process: The actuator releases air (or the spring returns to its original position), the damper is rotated back to the upright position, and the medium is cut off.
3. Features and Benefits
● Quick opening and closing: The switch can be completed by rotating 90°, which is suitable for frequent operation.
● Compact Structure: Small size, light weight, saving installation space.
● Low pressure drop: Small flow resistance when fully opened, good energy-saving effect.
● Reliable seal: soft seal (rubber/PTFE) or metal seal, suitable for different temperatures and pressures.
● Automation Compatible: Easy to integrate with PLC and DCS systems to ensure remote control.
4. Areas of application
● Water treatment: water supply and sanitation, wastewater treatment.
● Chemical/oil industry: corrosive media, gas pipelines.
● Electricity: cooling water system, flue gas desulphurization.
● Food & Medical Industry: Sanitary Butterfly Valve (in accordance with GMP standards).
● **HVAC**: Ventilation and air conditioning system.
