Common types of valves and characteristics of heating systems
1. Fully welded ball valve
✅ Application scenarios: primary heating network (hot water/steam main line of high temperature and high pressure); inlet and outlet of the heat exchange station; Extended heat pipeline (underground installation, leakage prevention).
✅ Specifications:
Fully welded valve body, no risk of external leakage, suitable for direct ground filling or highly corrosive environment.
Solid metal seal (such as carbon steel, stainless steel), high temperature resistance (≤200°C), high pressure (PN16-PN40).
Low flow resistance, reduced heat loss, energy saving and high efficiency.
2. Butterfly valve
✅ Application scenarios: secondary heating network (low temperature water circulation system); heat exchanger inlet and output; pumping room, water purification system.
✅ Specifications:
Compact design, suitable for large diameter pipelines (DN50-DN2000).
Soft seal (EPDM/PTFE) is suitable for hot water ≤120°C, and metal solid seal can be used for steam system.
Good adjustment performance, and it can be combined with electric/pneumatic actuators to achieve automatic control.
3. Application scenarios of ball valve: Steam heating system (such as boiler outlet, upstream of the pressure reducing valve); cases that require precise adjustment.
✅ Specifications:
Good sealing, suitable for high-pressure steam (Class 150~Class 600).
The adjustment performance is better than that of the gate valve, but the flow resistance is large, not suitable for frequent full opening and full closing operations.
4. Gate valve application scenarios: Control of full opening/full closing of the main heating pipeline; boiler house, thermal power plant.
✅ Specifications:
The flow resistance is extremely low, suitable for full opening conditions (reduced energy consumption for pumping).
Not suitable for frequent adjustments (the sealing surface wears out easily).
